The paint on most garage doors involves a process where it's baked on, so that it last longer than most standard methods of application, but with time it will still fade due to something called oxidation.
 
Oxidation is a problem that affects most Garage Doors and many other surfaces, as the outermost layers of paint are constantly exposed to water and air, the oxygen molecules in the air will eventually start interacting with the paint, the oxygen in the air burns up the free radicals contained in the paint and the finish becomes duller and duller.
