We service and repair virtually all brands sold in Australia, including older and discontinued models. We carry an extensive stock of spare parts for current and obsolete doors and openers at our Hallam warehouse.

Yes, we provide free onsite quotations for new garage door installations. We can also give a rough estimate over the phone, however this is subject to an onsite inspection before any order is placed. It is not possible to account for all variables without seeing the job in person.

We accept payment via cash, cheque, credit card, EFTPOS and PayPal. All our service vans carry a mobile EFTPOS machine. PayPal is available online via our website.

We are an accredited ATA dealer and also install and service B&D, Merlin/Chamberlain, Gliderol, Steel-line, Firmadoor, Boss, Airport Doors and Vicway openers. We can service most makes and models, including older and discontinued units.

We recommend a professional service at least once a year for residential doors, and every six months for high-use commercial or strata properties. Regular servicing prevents costly breakdowns and keeps your door operating safely.

Yes. AGG Doors services and repairs all types of commercial roller shutters, high-speed doors, sectional industrial doors and fire doors across Melbourne. We offer service contracts for strata, property managers and commercial facilities.

Our initial call-out fee is $240 including GST and technician labour. Minor repairs and required parts are quoted separately. A full motor replacement typically starts from $899 including parts and labour. We provide a clear quote before any work begins, so there are no surprises.

Yes. We repair and service most major garage door motor brands, including ATA, B&D, Merlin/Chamberlain, Gliderol, Steel-line, Firmadoor, Boss, Airport Doors and Vicway. We can also inspect older or discontinued units and advise whether repair or replacement is the better option.

Yes. We offer emergency and same-day garage door repairs across Melbourne on weekends and evenings. If your garage door is stuck, unsafe, off track, or creating a security issue, call AGG Doors and we will arrange the fastest available technician.

Most garage door openers last around 10–15 years with regular servicing and maintenance. Slow operation, grinding noises, intermittent performance, or failure to engage can be signs the opener is nearing the end of its lifespan.

Supply and installation for garage door automation is generally between $899 and $1199, depending on the door, opener model, and site requirements. Contact us for a current quote, as pricing can vary after inspection.

If the motor is under eight years old and has an isolated fault, repair often makes sense. If the unit is older, repeatedly failing, noisy, or parts are no longer available, replacement is usually the smarter long-term option. We can show you both options upfront.

Yes, but only if the garage door opener being fitted is the same brand and series as the gate opener. For example, if you have a Merlin gate opener with a blue button remote and the garage door opener being fitted is a Merlin opener with a green button remote, it will not work as they are at different frequencies — they cannot communicate with each other. What you can do, however, is fit a compatible receiver to the gate opener, which acts as a translator so that you can use your green remotes with your Merlin blue remote system.

Your garage door opener may reverse back up for a number of reasons: 1. If you have photoelectric beams (P.E. Beams) fitted, there may have been an obstruction while the door was trying to close, or the beams could be dirty. As a safety precaution the door opener will stop or reopen to avoid injury or damage. 2. The door may have hit something or jammed momentarily and has reopened to avoid damage. 3. The door has finished closing and has reversed back up — this suggests the limits need adjustment or the gears are worn or broken.

Garage doors are one of the largest moving objects in your home and can weigh in excess of 200kg — though they don’t feel that heavy because they are counterbalanced by springs. If the springs are not set up correctly, you may find the door very heavy to lift. Another possibility is that the springs may need readjusting as tension has been lost over time, or one or both springs may have snapped (which is usually visibly noticeable). If any of these apply, it is a good idea to have a technician inspect the door.

Your automatic garage door could be stuck closed or won’t open for a number of reasons: 1. The counterbalance spring could be broken and is overloading the system, or has lost tension and needs to be re-tensioned. 2. The door could be jammed, or the locking mechanism may have accidentally become engaged. 3. There could be a fault with the electronics — either the control board or the remotes. Try replacing the remote batteries first.

The price for supply and installation is between $999 – $1,699, depending on the door and choice of motor. Contact us for a current quote as pricing may vary.

We do not provide free quotations on repairs (garage door, opener, gate or gate opener), but we can give you a rough estimate based on the information you provide. The more accurate the information you provide, the more accurate the estimate. This helps us keep our service charges competitive.

Yes. At AGG Doors we sell both original and aftermarket weather strips (also known as rubber seals). Whether the original weatherstrip is still available depends on the age of your garage door. If it is no longer available, there are aftermarket kits to suit most doors.

Yes, our garage doors come in a wide selection of colours depending on which brand you choose. Most manufacturers use the Colorbond range. You will find the corresponding colour charts listed under each specific brand on our website — for example, under the B\&D section.

Yes, you may — as long as the gate does not protrude onto council property when opening, as this would create public liability issues.

Yes. Most current gate openers — whether sliding or swing — have an auto-close feature that allows you to set a timer so the gate closes after enough time has passed for you to enter or exit the property. It is strongly advised that you also fit photoelectric beams (P.E. Beams) if you use auto-close. These beams will stop the gate from closing on your car or any object in its path, preventing damage to your property or injury to yourself or others.

Yes, you can automate a swing gate that opens on an upward rise, but you will be limited in the type of operators that are suitable for the application. The added weight of opening against a rise needs to be taken into consideration, as it will require more force than the same gate on flat ground. A site inspection is recommended to advise the correct opener for your situation.

To help us provide the most accurate advice, please provide photos of the door, photos of the motor if applicable, the door type, a description of the issue, and any error lights, flashing lights or beeping noises. The more information provided, the more accurate our estimate can be.

A well-maintained garage door typically lasts 15–25 years. Melbourne’s variable climate — hot summers and cold, wet winters — can accelerate wear on springs, seals and painted surfaces, so annual servicing is recommended to extend the life of your door.

Sectional panel lift doors are the most popular choice in Melbourne as they maximise driveway space and suit most home styles. Roller doors are a great option for double garages or tight driveways. We can help you choose the right door for your space and budget — just give us a call.

Common signs include the door feeling heavy to lift manually, a loud bang (a spring has broken), the door not opening evenly, or the opener straining to operate. Springs are under high tension and should only be replaced by a qualified technician. Call AGG Doors for a same-day inspection.

Yes. Insulated steel or aluminium panel doors are available and can make a significant difference in temperature control — particularly useful if your garage is attached to your home or used as a living/working space. We can advise on the best insulated options across our range.

Noise usually indicates that rollers, hinges or springs need lubrication or replacement, or that a component has worn or shifted out of alignment. It’s best not to ignore this — contact us to book a service before a minor issue becomes a major repair.

All automatic garage doors have an emergency release cord — usually red — that disconnects the door from the opener so it can be lifted manually. If your door is too heavy to lift by hand after releasing, this may indicate a spring problem and you should call us for assistance.

Cold weather can affect lubrication, motor performance, door balance and electronic components. If your garage door only becomes noisy, slow or unreliable during colder months, it may already have worn parts or adjustment issues that become more noticeable in winter. A service inspection can identify the cause.

Yes. Most modern openers are compatible with smart home apps via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth adapters. We can supply and install smart devices including ATA’s TrioCode range and compatible third-party solutions that work with Apple HomeKit, Google Home and Amazon Alexa.

Start by replacing the battery — this fixes the problem most of the time. If a new battery doesn’t help, try reprogramming the remote to the opener (instructions are in your manual or on our website). If neither works, the remote or receiver may need replacing — give us a call.

Intermittent remote operation may be caused by weak batteries, radio frequency interference, receiver faults, a faulty remote control, or an antenna issue on the motor. A technician can test the opener and remote system to identify the source of the problem.

Yes, in most cases additional remotes can be programmed to your existing opener, provided they are the same brand and frequency. We stock remotes for most brands in our Hallam spare parts depot, and can post them interstate if needed.

A garage door opening by itself may be caused by a faulty remote control, water ingress into the motor, a faulty control board, radio frequency interference, or incorrect wiring or accessories connected to the opener. This should be inspected as soon as possible for safety and security reasons.

Beeping can indicate a battery backup fault, low backup battery voltage, a service reminder, travel limit error, safety beam fault or another opener issue. The meaning varies depending on the opener brand and model, so it is best to have the unit checked if the beeping continues.

Most garage door openers last around 10–15 years depending on usage, maintenance, environmental conditions and brand. Older motors may become unreliable over time, especially if replacement parts or electronic components are no longer available.

In some cases, yes. However, many older motors become obsolete and replacement parts may no longer be available. If repair is not practical, safe or economical, we can provide suitable replacement options.

In most cases, yes. However, some manual locking systems can interfere with the operation of an automatic opener if they are accidentally engaged. We recommend discussing manual locking options with a technician before installation or if you are unsure how your current lock should be used.

Safety beams help prevent the door from closing on people, pets, vehicles or objects. They are required on many modern automatic garage doors and are an important safety feature, especially on doors with auto-close or high daily use.

Flashing safety beams usually indicate misalignment, dirty lenses, damaged wiring or a faulty safety beam component. The door may refuse to close until the issue is resolved. Clean the lenses and check for obvious obstructions, then contact us if the problem continues.

Generally no permit is required for a standard residential garage door replacement. However, if you are installing a new structure, making structural changes, or are located in a heritage or bushfire overlay zone, a building permit may be required. We recommend checking with your local Melbourne council if you are unsure.

Yes. A door off its tracks is a safety hazard and should not be operated until inspected by a technician. Do not attempt to force the door open or closed. Call AGG Doors immediately and we will make it safe as a priority.

Do not attempt to operate or repair the door. Garage door springs are under extremely high tension and can be dangerous. A broken spring will often cause the door to become very heavy or impossible to lift. Contact a qualified technician immediately.

A garage door that stops halfway may be caused by incorrect travel limits, obstructions in the tracks, worn or damaged rollers, broken springs, faulty motor settings or control board faults. A technician will need to inspect the door and opener to determine the exact cause.

A garage door should feel relatively balanced when operated manually. If it is difficult to close, it may indicate incorrect spring tension, a broken spring, snapped cable, track issue, damaged roller or a door that has become misaligned. For safety, stop using the door until it has been inspected.

A garage door that falls closed or will not remain open is usually caused by broken springs, incorrect spring tension or a door balance issue. This can be unsafe, so stop using the door and arrange an inspection before further damage or injury occurs.

A garage door opening slower than normal may indicate worn or failing motor components, incorrect motor settings, excessive door weight from spring issues, lack of servicing or general mechanical wear. A service inspection can identify the cause and help prevent further damage.

Excessive shaking or vibration is not normal and may indicate loose hardware, worn rollers, track alignment issues, spring imbalance or motor mounting problems. A service inspection is recommended before the issue becomes worse.

Possibly. Repairability depends on the extent of the damage, the door type, availability of replacement parts, and whether the tracks, frame or structural components were affected. Photos can often help us provide initial advice before attendance.

No. Due to safety concerns and manufacturer recommendations, we do not carry out repairs to Flex-A-Doors. We recommend contacting the manufacturer directly regarding repair or replacement options.

Yes — we maintain one of Melbourne’s largest inventories of garage door and gate spare parts, including parts for older and hard-to-find models. Parts can be purchased over the counter at our Hallam depot or ordered online through our shop.

A standard residential garage door replacement typically takes 2–4 hours. New installations involving structural changes or custom doors may take longer. Our technician will confirm a timeframe when they complete the onsite measure and quote.

We do both. We can supply and install from our full range of garage doors and gates, or install a door you have purchased elsewhere. For a seamless experience, supply-and-install is recommended so we can warranty both the product and the workmanship.

In many cases individual panels can be replaced rather than the full door — provided the frame and tracks are in good condition and the same panel profile is still available. We will let you know at the time of quoting whether a panel replacement or full replacement is the better option.

Warranties vary by brand and product — typically 12 months on labour and 2–5 years on the door and opener. We will provide warranty details at the time of sale. AGG Doors also backs all installations with our own service guarantee.

Yes. We work with builders and developers across Melbourne metropolitan and outer suburban areas. If you are a builder or developer with regular work, contact our sales team to discuss trade pricing and scheduling.

Sliding gates are best for driveways on a slope or where space is limited on the approach. Swing gates suit flat driveways with enough clearance. We can assess your property and recommend the right gate type, opener and safety devices for your specific situation.

Yes, when correctly installed with the right safety devices. All our gate installations include photoelectric beams (PEBs) that stop the gate if a person or animal is in the path. Safety edges and flashing warning lights are also available. We comply with Australian Standard AS 5979 for automated gate safety.

AS 5979 (Automated vehicular gate systems) governs the safety requirements for automatic gates in Australia. AGG Doors installs and certifies all automated gate systems to this standard. If you have an existing gate installed by another company that has never been certified, we can inspect and certify it for you.

In most cases yes, provided the gate is structurally sound, well-balanced, and the hinges or track are in good condition. We will assess the gate as part of the quoting process. Poorly maintained gates often need repairs or realignment before automation is viable.

This can be caused by worn drive wheels, motor issues, misalignment of the track, or obstruction in the slide channel. Do not continue to force the gate to operate as this can cause further damage to the motor or gearbox. Contact us to book a service.

Yes. We have a dedicated work order team for real estate agents, property managers and body corporates. Send work orders to workorders@aggdoors.com.au and we will prioritise attendance and provide detailed job reports for your records.

Yes. We offer preventive maintenance contracts for commercial clients, strata buildings, and businesses with multiple sites. Regular servicing reduces emergency callouts and helps meet Occupational Health and Safety compliance requirements. Contact our sales team for a tailored proposal.
