The ATA GDO-6 EasyRoller and GDO-8 Shed Master installation sheet provides essential guidance for installing, programming and safely operating these roll-up garage door openers. From checking the condition of the door to setting travel limits and coding transmitters, the guide is designed to help ensure the opener is installed correctly and operates reliably.

Prepare the Door and Installation Area

Before fitting the opener, the garage door must be in good working condition, properly balanced and able to travel smoothly by hand. Sticking, binding or damaged doors should be repaired before installation, while existing door locks and locking mechanisms must be removed or disabled.

Important installation requirements include:

  • The opener can be fitted to the left or right side of the door and is factory configured for right-hand installation.
  • The unit must be positioned in a dry, protected location.
  • Minimum side room is 40 mm to the inside of the door bracket and 85 mm to the wall; additional clearance is required when fitting a Battery Backup.
  • A properly earthed, single-phase 240V power supply is required.
  • If the garage has no separate pedestrian entrance, the guide recommends installing an emergency access device for manual operation during a power failure.

Safety Is Essential During Installation and Operation

The installation sheet places strong emphasis on safe handling of the garage door, particularly because the door and its springs are under significant tension. Adjustments should only be performed by experienced people following strict safety procedures.

Key precautions include keeping people, vehicles and objects away from the doorway, securing the door properly during installation and disconnecting mains power before repairs or removing opener covers.

The obstruction-sensing system must also operate correctly. If a closing door cannot reopen after encountering an obstruction, the opener should not be used until the fault has been repaired and retested.

Programming, Remotes and Additional Functions

Once installed, the opener can be programmed for the correct open and close travel limits. The installation sheet also explains how to code, test and delete compatible transmitters, including remote transmitter programming without direct access to the opener’s control panel.
